Police in Lima, Peru, had their sights set on a house where they suspected drug dealers were operating. The four officers—dressed as Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Thor—took a casual stroll down a street in the San Juan de Lurigancho neighborhood of Lima on Saturday. When the undercover police officers got to the suspected drug dealers house, they sprung into action. Using special equipment they had kept hidden, the officers broke down a steel door, allowing 10 backup officers to storm the house. The occupants apparently thought it was a prank, until one of them got pinned to the floor. Police reportedly found 3,250 small packages of basic cocaine paste, 287 bags of cocaine, and 127 of marijuana. “In this building an entire family was dedicating themselves to the micro-commercialization of drugs. Neighbors on the street were astounded by the sight of Spider-Man and Thor leading handcuffed suspects out onto the street and into police vehicles. The operation—appropriately called “Marvel”—was deemed a success by law enforcement. No reports were made of anyone getting hurt during the bust.

This isn’t the first time police officers in Peru have gone undercover in costumes. In 2020, Peruvian drug squad members disguised themselves as Santa Claus and his elves to raid a Lima house and capture suspected cocaine dealers. The suspects were successfully apprehended after the fake Santa arrived in a van and used a sledgehammer to break in.
